The Power BI End-to-End Delivery Framework is intended to provide a reusable delivery structure rather than prescribe the exact implementation of every analytics project…
Individual projects apply the framework according to their business problem, data landscape, analytical requirements, technical constraints and delivery context.
The framework defines the delivery controls, artefact structure and traceability approach.
The project supplies the specific requirements, data, design decisions, implementation and validation evidence.
The Power BI Governance Analytics showcase demonstrates the application of the framework to a practical analytics problem using Azure DevOps data and Power BI.
The solution addresses governance and delivery visibility across areas including:
The project provides practical evidence of how business analysis, data preparation, semantic modelling, report development and validation can be connected within a controlled delivery lifecycle.

The reusable framework establishes how the work is controlled.
The project demonstrates how that control is applied to a specific analytical problem.
| Framework Stage | Example Project Application |
|---|---|
| Define the Business Problem | Established the governance-reporting problem, current-state limitations, stakeholders, desired outcomes and success criteria. |
| Define Data Requirements | Identified the Azure DevOps work-item information, history, fields and analytical grain required to support the reporting need. |
| Design Representative Test Scenarios | Defined representative approval, ageing, threshold and requirements-health conditions with expected results. |
| Design the Source Extraction | Defined the Azure DevOps Analytics View and source configuration required by the solution. |
| Build Power Query Transformations | Prepared current-state and historical approval data and created supporting analytical fields and structures. |
| Define the Semantic Model | Established table roles, analytical structures, relationships and calculation requirements. |
| Develop Calculations and Measures | Implemented analytical logic supporting ageing, overdue requests, governance indicators and reporting KPIs. |
| Design and Build Report Pages | Translated business and governance questions into operational and management reporting views. |
| Validate the Solution | Compared report and model behaviour with controlled scenarios, source information and expected results. |
| Document the Solution | Maintained business, technical, implementation and validation artefacts supporting the delivered solution. |
Applying the framework does not mean that every project produces identical technical designs.
For example, one Power BI project may require:
Another may require very little of those things.
The framework provides the structure for determining whether they are required, why they are required, how they should be documented and how they will be validated.
This allows technical implementation to remain proportionate to the actual business and analytical need.
Within a project, the framework can create a chain such as:
Business Problem
↓
Business Requirement
↓
Data Requirement
↓
Source and Transformation Design
↓
Semantic-Model / Report Design
↓
Power BI Implementation
↓
Validation Scenario and Expected Result
↓
Validation Evidence
Rather than treating these as unrelated project documents, the framework uses process-to-document associations and requirements traceability to preserve the relationships between them.
This makes it possible to explain both:
why a particular component exists
and
how its behaviour was demonstrated to be correct.
The framework is deliberately scalable.
Activities and artefacts should be applied according to project complexity, risk and delivery context.
A small analytical solution may require lightweight evidence for some stages, while a larger or higher-risk solution may require substantially greater control.
The intention is not to create unnecessary documentation.
The intention is to ensure that important analytical, technical and governance decisions are made deliberately and remain understandable throughout the delivery lifecycle.
The Delivery Framework and Showcase Projects serve different purposes within this portfolio.
The Delivery Framework demonstrates the reusable approach used to structure analytics delivery.
The Showcase Projects provide evidence of that approach being applied to specific business problems and technical solutions.
Together they demonstrate both:
delivery methodology
and
practical implementation.
The public portfolio demonstrates selected applications of the framework without publishing the complete reusable delivery assets.
The following remain private:
Published project evidence is therefore intended to demonstrate application and capability rather than provide a reusable copy of the underlying framework.
